Monthly Optimization Roadmap

The monthly optimization roadmap turns the Channel Health Audit into a short, prioritized plan of experiments and changes for the next month. It exists to prevent the two common failure modes: changing everything at once, which makes results unreadable, and changing nothing, which lets problems compound. The roadmap commits to a small number of tests with clear hypotheses and a rollback note.

Inputs

Steps

  1. Pick one bottleneck. From the audit, choose the single weakest link in the funnel as the month’s focus.
  2. Set hypotheses. For each planned change, write what you expect to move and why, tied to a concept note.
  3. Queue packaging tests. Start a Title-Thumbnail A-B Test Loop on the flagged candidates; the winner is decided by watch time share.
  4. Plan production. Apply Packaging-First Workflow to upcoming videos and confirm a sustainable Publishing Cadence.
  5. Plan the funnel. Decide how Shorts will feed long form this month; see Shorts-to-Long-Form Funnel.
  6. Plan revenue. Identify one Diversify Revenue Streams action appropriate to the channel’s tier.
  7. Record rollback. For each change, note how to revert if it underperforms.

Output

A one page roadmap: the focus bottleneck, three to five experiments with hypotheses, the packaging tests in flight, the cadence commitment, and the rollback notes. The brain’s renderer can seed this from the scorecard.

Cadence

Run the audit and refresh the roadmap monthly, or after every release for monetization sensitive channels. Review last month’s hypotheses before setting new ones, so the channel learns.

Guardrails

  • Change few things at once so you can attribute results.
  • Decide tests by watch time share and retention, not vanity views; see Chasing Views Over Satisfaction.
  • Keep every recommendation sourced and reversible.
